Those In Between

On November 11, 2011, in Stencil Process, Stencils, Uncategorized, by Team LaRosa

There’s nothing I remember more from growing up then spending time with my brothers.  This piece captures a rare quiet moment from a childhood with 4 boys running around.  Two brothers, the middle children, just sitting idle on a swing together.

Those In Between

This is a crop in on the subjects of the piece. Full canvas below.

Sticking to my typical process, this painting originated from a photo, in this case an old polaroid from my childhood.  Keep reading to see the process.

Imaginary Friends Shirts

On April 21, 2011, in Imaginary Friends, Stencils, by Team LaRosa

So last week I was lucky enough to have my good friend Allison give me a little shirt making demo at AS220 in Providence. This was great as making shirts was something I had wanted to do for several months now. We did some experimenting with shirts and colors after we got a successful burn on the screen (on our first try none the less).

It was great fun. We printed the shirts off center so that they would look a little more unique, and also played with colors as we went. We changed and mixed colors throughout the printing, some results are better than others.

Can’t wait to put the logo on the back of these and get them in the mail. For this first run of 20 shirts, the goal was just to learn the process, and give them away to friends and artists to promote the work a little, while wearing a killer shirt of course. Fashionable marketing.

So the work is painted and dropped off at the Roger Williams Park Zoo for the Party for the Planet event. Very excited to have the Imaginary Friends series seen by more people, hopefully it will open up some other opportunities.

If you’re in the RI area, visit the zoo today or tomorrow to see this work and work by other local artists.

Leopard Stare Process

On April 5, 2011, in Imaginary Friends, Stencil Process, Stencils, by Team LaRosa

I finished this Leopard Stare stencil a little over a month ago now, but just getting a post up to document the process.  In fairness, we didn’t have the blog yet, and so I don’t have process posts for any of my pieces.  Hopefully I can go back and add them to some extent.  Read on for a detailed process for the Leopard Stare piece finished in March of 2011.

Giraffe Kiss by Team LaRosa

We are lucky enough to be able to participate in an upcoming event at the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Rhode Island in April to show case local artists.  We’ll be displaying our Imaginary Friends series.  The dates are April 21 & 22, Thursday and Friday.  We’re very excited about the upcoming event and the opportunity to show the work to more people, specifically families with kids.

We think we’re building a unique body of work that highlights the innocence of a child’s perception, but also the love so many of us have for animals and the environment around us.  If you’re in the area hopefully you can join us for a fantastic event.  Find out more at the calendar on their website: Roger Williams Park Zoo Calendar.  And stay tuned to Team LaRosa as we prepare for the event.

Coming Soon!!!

On January 13, 2011, in Uncategorized, by Team LaRosa

Well, we’re not really up and running yet, this is more of a holding page till I get everything final, but look, a website in some form. Hopefully in the next month or so this will turn into a site to see work from Team LaRosa, see our process, see who we are, and why you should love us. Oh yeah, and hopefully be able to buy something while you’re here.

Life is tough, so this might not be exactly what we want as quick as we want it. Sorry folks, it’s a small team.
